MAC Lipstick; Cyber

I absolutely LOVE dark lipsticks, and this one I'd been wanting for a long time so I bought it for my birthday.  I really love the color, it goes on kind of creamy, but it has a pretty matte finish.  It is a very dark purple, but it's not too dark that it looks black.  Sometimes it goes on weird if I moisturize my lips first, but I guess that's with any lipstick, I don't know.  I wear it with the M.A.C. Night Moth lip liner sometimes.  So for this to be my first MAC lipstick, I'm pleased.  They're $15 (16.01 with tax) and it's free shipping online, which isn't bad.  I'll of probably be getting more soon, and some for my best friends for Christmas.



 

 

 

Baby Lips; Berry Bomb

I'm super late with these, I know.  But for some reason I thought you had to get them from like Sephora or something.  Nope, I got mine from CVS.  I got the purple one because the stick is a medium purple color and I thought that's how it'd show up on my lips but it doesn't.  =/  It has a tiny pinkish purplish tint, but you can't really tell unless you're looking very hard.  I just got it Sunday and it's Thursday now, so I haven't seen a huge improvement in my dry lips, but I think it moisturizes them well for the time being.  I don't have to keep reapplying it either like Vaseline, maybe every few hours.  I'd give it a 3.5, just because I was expecting a little more, but it can have an extra half point since it smells good.  Oh, and it was about 4 dollars, I believe.

  




Milani Eye Tech Bold

So I ran out of my Sephora liquid eyeliner, and I kinda wanted to go back to the cream stick type of liner.  So I was going to get this one I found at CVS under the Maybelline brand, but then I saw this one and decided to get it instead.  I bought a felt tip once over the summer from M.A.C. for $20 (not sure what I was thinking) and I was not fond of it at all and I ended up returning it.  But this one is not that bad.  You just have to know how to use it.  It is easier if you don't have a steady hand for liquid liner, but it doesn't always come out as bold on the first pass.  You kind of have to angle it on it's side, and sometime use the very tip, I don't know.  Again, I'd give this a 3.5, but it makes cat eyes and winged tips a heck of a lot easier and identical.  So I give it a 4.  It was only $4.SomeChange at CVS.

 

Winter Round Toe Stiletto High Heel

I absolutely love these heels.  I bought these for my birthday as well, and they are so KEEYUTE!  No, they are not red bottoms, nor knock offs; they just happen to have red soles.  I got them for about $18.SomeChange on LovelyWholesale.com, which is a wholesale website, obviously, lol.  The only thing about ordering them was that they came from Asia, so the tax was like $17 and they took about a month to get here.  But I do think they were worth it.  I haven't worn them yet, because I don't know where I want to wear them to, and my campus is not stiletto friendly.  Maybe I'll wear them to church when I go home or something, lol.  I believe I got a size 35, which I think is a 4 in European shoe sizes...I'm not sure.  But irregardless, they fit PERFECTLY!  These are the best fitting heels I've ever owned.  I'm excited to wear them.  I think they're gone off the website, but check out LovelyWholesale.com anyways, they have some really amazing stuff. 

 

 

 

 Cut It Out: Black

I love these boots!  I'm wearing them right now, ha.  I had to get a size 6 because they were out of 5.5s but, they aren't real big on me.  I tend to wear thick socks and fold them down past the cut out so it makes up for the extra space.  They're a suede fabric type of material, so I won't be wearing them once it starts snowing, but they will go with so many of my spring and summer outfits.  And they were $37.99 + $8 shipping from Lolashoetique.com.  (My go to shoe website!)

Polka Dot  Bralette

I love this Bralette.  This was one of the things my mommy got me when we went birthday shopping (I had a nice birthday, lol) at Aurora Farms outlet.  I forget how much it was, but I got it from Pacsun.  I wanna say it was like $9.99 or something.  I love it, it fits great bra or braless (I have one on in this pic) and it has a nice shape to it.  I like the dip at the top and the straight across at the bottom.  I decided to wear this HallOUween weekend at my school after watching the TLC movie the night before.  The polka dots and plaid was something new I wanted to try, and I actually like it.  It's getting cold out so I won't be wearing this much, but I'll bring it back out in the summer!  (Those are the boots too!) *Say hi to Wesley in the background. 

TLC Movie: CRAZY SEXY COOL

Ooooooo wee, I doubted this movie so hard.  I heard about this movie a couple months back, and I was just like W.T.F!!!!!  I was so saudy at the cast they picked: Lil Mama as the late Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopez, Keke Palmer as Chilli, and Drew Sidora as T-Boz.  I just knew this was going to be a terrible movie.  I felt like they should've picked some unknown actors.  Butttttt, needless to say, it was not a ship wreck.  The acting was pretty good, especially Lil Mama (shocking, right?).  She was the main one I thought would crash and burn, but she ended up being the only person I could look at and not see her.  I really did see Left-Eye most of the time.  Keke Palmer did cool, but I always saw her as Keke Palmer.  Drew was a little random to me to be honest, but she did cool too, though she was my least favorite.  So kudos to y'all for greatly exceeding the expectations of MANY, I'd like to assume at least.  Now let's talk about this fashion!  Are you serious?!  I was sooooo in love.  I am completely infatuated with it now.  I snapped a lot of pictures of Keke's outfits; I love the cargo/baggy jean/sweat pants look with the bralette and the open oversized button down and timb boots.  That is so sexy to me!  The 90s fashion has slowly been coming back, but I'm about to start adding a lot of baggy pieces to my wardrobe.  The wardrobe is the reason I gave the movie an extra half point, because it really is a big part of the movie.  Not to mention I'm a big fan of TLC and I'm glad they put their story out.  Somebody on twitter said "Pebbles is dead wrong!  Paying them girls in gum!" and I died laughing!!  But yeah, I won't spoil the movie for those who haven't seen it, but I'd definitely recommend it.  You can watch it for free online!

Orange Moon

Documentary Sundays.

Hey there!  I know it's been about a month or so since my last post, and I promised myself I wouldn't do that, but I promise I have some new great post coming soon for you all.  But, as you know, this blog is dedicated to all things art, and I've been watching a lot of great documentaries lately.  Some that I'd like to share with you, because they've all been very beneficial to me in some way; lifestyle choices, contribution to my education, things to know for the future, etc.  So feel free to check them out!  Might I add that I've never been a documentary type of person but I found out that I really enjoy them.

(In the order I watched them)

The Business of Being Born

• This was a really good one.  It kinda of compares midwifery and hospitals, and explains how hospitals are a business.  I actually decided to get a midwife when the day comes.

Vegucated

• This one followed a vegan woman and three other people on a however-many-days (I forget) challenge to be vegan.  And as you follow them, they learn (and you do to) why being vegan is good for your body, the economy, the animals, etc. etc.  This one was good too.  I'm currently a pescatarian, but I plan on being full vegan by the end of 2014, which were absolutely not my intentions before I watched the documentary.

The Black Power Mixtape: 1967-1975

• This one I watched in my Africana Media Studies class.  It's about the Black Panther Party for Self Defense.  It kinda talks about when and where it started and it's differences from older generations way of protest and non-violence; like it features Stokely Carmicheal and Angela Davis in it and they both drops some serious knowledge.  Also it has some voice overs from Talib Kwali, Erykah Badu, and others.  This is a good one too, especially if you're really into African American Studies.

Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead

• This one was cool, my friend Shiann told me about it, because she's going on a juicing fast.  Which is basically what the guy did in the documentary.  He was obese, and sick, and was on a lot of medication.  But he wanted to explore how the body could possibly heal itself from the inside by lifestyle changes.  So he juices for 90 days, meaning he only drank pure fruits and vegetable that he made with his juicer for 90 days.  I won't spoil it for you, but I've recently been juicing too, kinda.  Not exclusively though.  lol

The Science of Babies

• I didn't finish this one, but it was very interesting.  The title is pretty self explanatory, it just kinda talks about the development of babies.  It's not as boring as I made it sound though, hah.

America Beyond the Color Line: Black Hollywood

• This one talked about being black in Hollywood, how Hollywood may or may not discriminate against minorities, how there aren't any minorities at the very top calling the shots, etc.  I liked this one a lot.  In my Africana Media Studies class we'd talked about carictures, and Blaxploitation in the 60s and 70s, so it was cool kind of talking about modern day Hollywood.   This film is by Henry Louis Gates (Skip Gates), and includes interviews with Quincy Jones, Nia Long, John Singleton, and more.

Just something to leave you with: I had no interest in documentaries before I started college, but I realized that if you just find a subject or topic you like, then you can find a documentary to interest you.  It's also a very easy way to get a ton of information squeezed into a couple of hours.  So even if you don't watch any of these, find a documentary you like.  Don't know where to start, check out TopDocumentaryfilms.com & let me know what you watch!

F Word

Soooo!  Sunday I joined my first student organization. Yayyy!  It's a performing arts group that focuses on all things art (Ayeeeee) and all types of expression, though it seems that the common bond shared in the group is poetry/spoken word.  And lemme tell y'all, there are some dope poets in this group.  Ironically I wrote some poetry Saturday night for the first time in months.  I didn't go to sleep until 6 a.m. But yea.  Since I now have a poetry outlet, I'm just going to post some of my favorite poets' work, some of it old some new; that of Jasmine Manns and Zora Howard.  ^_^ Soooooo, enjoy!  oh! So I didn't get to show you any of my back to school outfits this week, I've been a little busy with getting adjusted to classes and my extra time, catching up on sleep and working out a couple times a day ;) (I'm determined to get my abs toned before my birthday, so I can treat myself to my rib tat=)).  But here is a little something from today.  Nothing real extra, just playing with print block a little bit.  I wore a different version of this outfit once at the end of my senior year, so I thought I'd pull it out again, sooooo yeah.  =)

Dorm Life

Ello!  Happy Back to school.  =D
Soooo, I moved into my dorm last Thursday, and classes started today, and I've been wanting to show you guys some pics of my dorm.   I'm in a quad in the fine arts dorm (Ayeeeee), so my room is actually pretty big... well it's long.  And since the day I've moved in, there's always 3-4 extra people in my room who don't live there, who may or may not go to the school, lol.  But whatever.  Here are some pics, I was trying to wait until I was finished decorating, but I'll just update later.
